I think I have a spare set of winders around - if I can find them I'll have a set made up and then we'll swap. As for the holders ?????? maybe if you really prepare them well the vinyl paint will work, I've seen center consoles painted and they have held up well.

I had mine rewebbed in BLACK by Ssnake-Oyl Products 6 months ago. They charged me like $180 for the set if I remember correctly. Yes, it was expensive, but I am very happy with their work and haven't had any problems. It looks like they have upped the price a bit.

I tried just about everything else I could think of and in the end just had to pony up the money to have them rewebbed.

383GT, thanks for posting that info. They must have obtained a supply of black webbing that would work with the fiero's double take-up reels.

Ssnake-Oyl may be an expensive solution, but at least it works and addresses all the various issues raised including safety, quality, etc (they are the choice for belt restorations on camaros.net, and a local shop specializing in Corvette restorations uses them exclusively). Other than the price, the only drawback is having to ship them your old belts for rewebbing--that can be inconvenient and require parking the car if you don’t have a set of backup belts lying around; however, I’m glad a definitive answer to this has finally been found.
