I have a few questions but first.. if I unplug the connnection from the TPS while the car is running, should the car stop running or the idle change any?

You shouldn't be unpluging sensors with the car running. Period. You can damage the ECM doing that.

As theogre said.....DON'T DO IT!

Check idle and running then turn engine off and disconnect the tps. It should definitely run differently.
