4-cyl. or V-6?

Either way you'll want to pull off the distributor cap and then manually crank the engine until the timing mark is at TDC. AT this point the rotor should be pointing at cyl. #1.....plug in the wire for cyl. #1 to the corresponding terminal on the distributor cap. The V-6's firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6, so just go clockwise from wherever #1 is. The 4-cyl's firing order is 1-3-4-2 (I believe), so hook them up accordingly.

Here's a diagram of where each cylinder is (the @ is the distributor)

V-6:

6 4 2
@
5 3 1

4-cyl.:

4 3 2 1
@

I hope this helps.

Remember... that's TDC of the firing stroke, otherwise you'll be 180 degrees out.

Pull the #1 plug out and bump the engine over until you feel compression, then follow the above message.

That's true, but it should be obvious if it's 180* out or not......if the mark is at TDC and the #1 wire will not reach the terminal where the rotor is pointing then put it on the one directly across from it (180* opposite).

I wouldn't mess with pulling out the plug (but that's me....do whatever works for you).
