Well I am assuming my heater core is cactus? The car overheated and I had a lovely steam sauna happening inside that completely whited out the windows. Taht and I had hot water dripping on my feet. Anyone know where I can get a good price heater core and how hard are they to install? Bear in mind I have pedals in the way on my RHD car.
I was going to comment with, "Aus, what the heck are you thinking? STOP yourself." but then I read. Anyway, yes, I have a Fiero sauna. Since I put in the 3.4 DOHC, I have sucsessfully blown 2 heater cores in 2 weeks. My school books have nasty stains now, and my windows fog up and steam comes out of the vents when the temp gets up. I can change mine in 30 minutes, they made it SOO easy on Fieros. just take the two hoses off the heater core, they will drip guarenteed. Then get into the footwell and take out the plastic cover, the one with 4 screws. It has the chime and horn relay assembly bolted to the side of it. That will expose the heater core. Then its the two screws on the strap that holds it in, and presto, its out. And as chiltons or haynes manuals would say "Assembly is the reverse of dissassembly". I can't say how hard it will be since you have a RHD car, it all depends on what they/you did to make it work. I hope you have better luck with yours than I did with mine.
What goods a Sauna without a Hot Tub ? Just pulled a heater core out of a boneyard Fiero on Friday . Took me about a half an hour . The best way to get to the screws on top of the black box that encloses the heater core is to remove the speaker cover and speaker , not much room on top , but it's better than removeing the entire dashboard . The three screws on the bottom are no problem . Then there are just two 7mm screws holding the heater core in place by a u-shaped band .
I called around locally to various auto parts stores and the cheapest heater core with A/C that I could find was $50 bucks plus tax . That's why I went to a u-pull-it yard and picked a heater core up for $12 bucks .
I don't know how differcult it would be on a RHD Fiero . If your not able to get a heater core for awhile you can just make a splice between the two hoses going to the core , they are two different sizes , but that shouldn't be any big problem . Many of the Auto parts stores carry plastic adapters especially for this situation . If push comes to shove you can make your own adapter from a chase nipple and coupling , just make sure you use pipe thread between the nipple and coupling .
If your not able to locate a heater core , let me know if I can be of help to you here in the States .
Hope this helps Aus !

I've thought about using a really little intercooler as a heater core; the darn things seem to drop like flies, and the 'quality' of the part is laughable.
It's easy enough to change on a US Fiero, dunno what you'll have to do with the pedals Jim! Good luck!
(I can buy one in the 'states and ship it to ya if you want)
Best! Ben.

Wow, I am so sorry to hear that. At least taking the dash out is easy too, just dissassemble the pod, and the radio surround, then take the speaker grills out, 4 bolts and the two 10MM's on the bottom corners... No problem But you better get the best heater core you can. Hate to change it again. Good luck.

WOW what a job. Due to the RHD conversion I had to remove the dash, centre console and skeleton, drop the steering column down and remove the plastic panel under the hood near the windscreen wipers. Talk about a strip down. I also had to cut a badly placed reinforecment bar meaning I will have to weld a new bolt in reinforcement in its place in case I ever need to do the job again. 5 hours down and I now have access to the core. What a mess it is.

It gets cold enough. Plus the heater didn't work properly in my last Fiero. I want the heat and aircon working good in this one.
