Anyony know if it's possible to tow a 4 cyl Fiero on a tow bar, assume that the axels will be disconnected. I need to know if you can hook a tow bar to the frame in any way. Does the removal of the front bumper skin help. I would think a bracket could be welded/bolted to the front end to attach the bar. The issue is what part of the front end is strong enough to survive 2500 miles of towage. Has anyone done this?

I suppose anything is possible but there is no way I could recommend doing this for 1 block let alone 2500 miles. Use a tow dolly or auto transporter instead. They both hook-up to Class 3 hitches.

I am working on a tow bar which can be used to push-in and pull-out my Fiero from a one door garage. Will be doing engine swap and from time to time I need the garage for more urgent jobs.

The only place I could find to attach the bar is two holes in the front cross member about 18 inches apart. I will bolt brackets at these two holes and fashion "V" shaped tow bar which will attach to them. Hook it to my John Deere and away I go.

As noted before, major towing should be done with rear wheels off the ground using a dolly or wrecker with wheel lifts. Slings are a no no.

I would imagine finding a safe place to hook a winch cable for pulling onto rollback might be very difficult. Not to mention risking the possibility of cracking fascias and ground effects.
