What is the oem color on Fiero v6 engine blocks?

I just purchased my first ever v6 Fiero, an '86 2m6 coupe with 4-speed tranny. The engine seems to start right up and run smoothly. The odometer reads over 240,000 miles. I am either very impressed, or very skeptical!

The entire engine block and oil pan seems to be painted a shade of aqua blue. I seem to remember this to be the standard color on all pontiac motors back in the 60's and 70's, just wondering if any of you know if this is the original color used on Fiero v6 engines.

I thought it might have a rebuilt motor instead, and the engine color might be a clue to this.

I would appreciate any info or help anyone has on this subject.

Thanks.

My 2.8 that I took out was original and it was black, IIRC.

Original block/heads were painted black. Yeah, that makes it real easy to see leaking oil.
Whenever I rebuild an engine I NEVER paint it black...usually red or blue. Notice how so many newer GM and Ford cars have silver (aluminum) colored blocks and heads now.

They probably considered the high heat environment and used black rather than GM blue or an orange as it disperses heat better.
