When I part my Fiero on a hill, nose down, it leaks radiator fluid. I replaced the cap and now it just oozes instead of pours. If it does this even when it's cold, I figure it's probably doing worse when it's got some actual pressure behind it. At 8 bucks a gallon DexCool isn't exactly cheap to keep going thru.

Any body have any clues as to what's wrong here? Or WHY it's leaking? The inside lip and opening of the radiator feels fine BTW.

Reading thru all of the article, I see where that might be a problem. (I didnt read the part by orge at the end the first time thru. I'll see if this fixes it...

Ya know, for a car that was supposed to be a cheap little fun car, this thing has cost me a bundle in only 6 months :-(

You need a NON-VENTED cap. The Stant cap that AutoZone lists for fieros is vented and will leak just as yours does.

Ive had the 'wrong' vented cap on mine the whole time ive owned it with no problem. I think everycar has its own unique quirks. Ive heard nothing but horror stories regarding DexCool. Id keep that in new cars designed to use it myself.

I've got some numbers from the articles and such for Stant Non-Vented Caps.

Regarding DexCool: The guy who did the engine swap for me (George at the Fiero Shop) put in the DexCool, and swears by it. Now I drove home from the shop in 100 degree plus heat, in stop and go traffic, and while the engine did get warm once or twice, when the fan kicked on the temp dropped faster then I'd previously seen it do.

Once I get the A/C back online I'll see if it continues to work as well, but it does seem to work better then the old green stuff.
