Well I have put only about 500 miles onto this Fiero since I bought her. The engine has 130,600, and when I first bought it, it would not leak anything. Now all of a sudden I have a leak and it is more than just a dime spot. It is like a snake trail of oil I think. I jacked the car up and I tightend the tranny bolts, also the oil pan drain hole bolts. I then put cardboard under the car engine area and left it there for a while. I coem back and there are snake trails of oil. I cant trace it cause the whole under carridge is gross. Any ideas where it migth be from??

Thanks Ken

Replace your distributor O-ring.

I had a mystery leak as well. Motor was dripping a little every time I drove the car. I had to replace the ignition module and pickup coil. Leak got worse.

The O-ring was dry and brittle; I replaced it with a new one (FelPro, $1.50 plus tax at Autozone). My car dripped for a couple more days (as the oil that was on the engine succumed to gravity) and then...stopped dripping. Every time I've driven the car since then I've parked it over some clean kitty litter. The kitty litter has stayed dry....

It's the first thing to check, I am told, by other members of the forum.

It improved my oil pressure a bit, too.

I have a rule with 660 engines. Turn the distributor - replace the o-ring. Check around the distributor then the valve covers. Then the front and rear seals.

There is so much oil pressure at the distributor that even the tiniest nick in the ring will leak oil.
