I have a 86 fiero v6 4sp, Going to do the v8 swap. Would like to put in a 5 speed. What cars would I need to look for that has a 5 sp that would work? Also would the 4 sp. shifter cables work on the 5 sp. or would something have to be changed?

A visit to www.rodneydickman.com will be worth your while. Once there look at the "Transaxle" tab/link and from there navigate to the "Getrag Conversion Information" link. There you will find some instructions, parts needed and a list of cars from which you may pull a tranny. I foudn this out because I too want a 5-spd...just gotta get rid of the auto.

I did the swap that you are thinking of doing.I went to a Isuzu 5 speed. If I rember correctly you do have to get the cables for the isuzu and a new throw out bearing for the isuzu 5 speed and I don,t remember exactly I think the rear trans mount is different .I hope this will help a little .
