soon to be new motor in my 84 sports coupe. I am looking for a couple of things in this new motor. First what other motor from other types of vehicles are compatible. Which whould the simplest switch for the least amount of money and also has plenty of power. i have heard that an s-10 motor would work also a 2.5L only from an 84-86 fiero, is this true?

The Starter is on the wrong side of the s-10 motor though it can be switched with some of the blocks. Look for a 2.5 vin R with a Distributer and it will work, you cant go to the DIN system without having to change out all your wiring. cheapest to just get a compete engine from a wreckers and swap them

I just did a new motor swap on my '84 SE.....my old 2.5 for a brand new long block 2.5. Total cost with freight was $1580. However, since i wanted all new accessories (alt, starter, waterpump, exhaust, etc, etc), and all new sensors total cost now is right at $2500. That's what i paid for the car back in '88. :-) You really got to love the Fiero to do that.

Anyway, just thought i'd give you some first hand pricing in case you go the same route as me.
