I was wondering if the crank shaft can be removed without pulling the engine out I dont think it is but i figured id ask anyway

You have to remove all the main, and rod bearing caps, and remove the crank pully, harmonic balancer, and timing chain . It can be done, but its alot easier if you drop the cradle.

dont forget youl also have to seperate the tranny from the block to clear the torque converter on an auto..........and for a stick, have no clue how you would do it. Youd have to drop the tranny out of the way i would think due to the input shaft from the tranny goin all the way into the pressure plate, clutch, and crank. just drop the cradle and save you bottle of asprine for something else

gtdude is dead on and he always has very reliable info.

anyways, its very likely other things would need to be done too so dropping the assembly isnt so bad.

aww its not impossible Anything is possible if you have enough patience. I did a crank change back in college on an 87 or 88 olds with the 3.8. It was a pain in the arse, but we did it.

But as i said before, just yank the cradle and save yur asprine
