Ok this is what you want to do. find the ign fuse on the fuse block, goto radio shack get a package of fuse taps. tape into the fuse with tap, thats it simple. the reason for the tap is to arm and disarm the alarm manually w/the ign switch.

The ignition wires for the Pontiac Fiero are located on the RIGHT side of the column, going up above.
When you remove the lower trim panel on the instrument cluster, there is a bundle of large wires going up to the top of the steering column under the dash. The easiest way to gain access to these is to unplug the wires from the ignition switch on the column (under the dash) and then do any splicing you need. You should not have to cut wires to install the security system. Usually using a large line tap on the 10 and 12 guage wires under the dash helps. Be sure to use a moisture blocker (like DiElectric grease) as you assemble the wires. I have a color listing here of which wires are which. Let me hunt it down for you.

When I installed my son's alarm in his 88 Coupe, I removed the entire dash. It made the already difficult installation a lot easier. A big bonus was that I could tie directly into the main wiring harness and route the alarm wires with it. Took a little extra time but made the install virtually invisible.

I myself have done that on numerous vehicles, and have found the Fiero to be the easiest to install on when the dash is removed.
I pull the entire center console, the dash, and cluster, and then do all the work from there.
The siren is mounted down by the transmission in the engine compartment, and I have cables run with a relay to the front radiator area in my car for a second siren. I have not hooked it up yet. Also, the sirens I use both have battery backups in case power gets disconnected.
I have remote start, so pulling the dash made the installation that much easier.

The easiest way to do an igition cut out on the fiero is cut the wire going to one side of the fuel pump fuse and splice the relay leads in. Instaed of having the ignition switch cut out you have the fuel pump which is just as effective.

These wires are the turn signal, hazard, and horn wires. Leave them alone.
The wires you need for constant 12 volts are LARGE and located on the right side of the column...
They look like they go up across the column, but in reality, they plug in at the top of the column...
These are your ignition wires. The two large red wires provide a constant 12 volts from the battery and are hot at all times. The rest of em are for accessory, ignition 1, ignition 2, and starting the vehicle...
If the alarm system manual is asking you to hook up a starter kill relay, then I suggest you do not. They function, but when they do go bad, and you don't have the tools to pull the trim at the lower half of the column to pull the starter kill relay, you are SOL on the side of the road.
I personally have a backup switch in mine that bypasses the starter kill relay just in case it goes bad for whatever reason... If it dies, I locate the switch, flip it off, and then I can start my car regardless of starter kill.

Synthesis is right about where the ignition switch/wires are located. When I did my aux/120MPH and pegging temp guage swap/fix on my 85 I dropped the whole column a few inches to see what I was doing. I couldn't even see it before doing that though, lots of stuff up there. Here's a link with some pics(not great, mind you) http://24.207.48.134/The%20Pegging%20Temperature%20Gauge%20Fix.htm
