These engine upgrade decisions are just too frustrating!!

What I want to know is exactly how complete is your master build kit?

Lets just say I had a carburated mid-80's small block. In addition to your kit, and this engine, what else would I need to make my Fiero (88GT auto by the way) run properly?

The reason I ask is because I have a budget of about 5k. If I spend the 3k on the kit, that leaves me 2k to get a sbc, get it rebuilt, and cover the incendential costs.

The incedential costs are always the things that worry me. I hate being nickel and dimed and having to run around and pick up extra parts.

So, if there are any forseen extra costs that you can think of, please let me know.

I know I could have e-mailed you, but I felt that this is a question that other people might have, and also, hopefully some other people besides Archie can give some info and/or their experience with the kit.

I think you would be looking around the 6k mark to finish the entire swap maybe a little more or less but why dont you just find a rebuilt sbc instead of having it rebuilt because its a lot cheaper and you might save a little there.

thanx

Hummm.

You will also need......

Relocate your battery.

Extend your AC plumbing??

If you are converting from a 6cyl, to a carbed V8 you need to replace the fuel pump with a 4cyl version.

New cradle bushings (since you have the thing out anyways).

Struts? See above statemnet.

I think that's about it.

I am changing my radiator fan to a larger unit, doing the cradle bushings, adding coilovers to my new struts and such.

Seems to be a great kit.

Wish the video was more detailed. Archie said in an e-mail to me that he has a better harness video that he was going to mail to me a few weeks ago. That should help.

You realy need to get ALL of teh info off of his web site which fills in most of the gaps in the video. Some stuff you just need to guess at or call him for details. He is great for info that you may not know.

If I do get the harness video, I will let you know how much it helps me.

John
