I put the 2.8 in everything is great. Except the throttle cable is sticking. I press down on the gas pedal and it comes back like a slug. No spring at all. The throttle body has plenty of spring on its arm. Jncomutt mentioned that maybe it was the cable. So I took it off the throttle body and moved it back and forth with no problem. Anyone had this problem and know what to do???
Is it a bored out throttle? A few people have had the plate stick on thoughs. Someone suggested that under certian conditions the throttle gets iced up when the coolent lines are disconected.

Check it with the gas pedal hooked and the TB disconnected. Does it move freely now? If not....you've got probs with the gas pedal sticking. Never heard of it. Also check that you don't have any tight bends in the cable when connected to the TB.

I checked it with the cble disconnected and it moves very freely. It isn't bored out either. I don't see how the coolant lines beeing empty would have an effect on the throttle body, but I would like to believe it. That would be a simple solution. It is possible that there is a kink somewhere but then why would the the cable move freely? Does someone have a close up of their throtte body in running condition? Maybe I ran the wire wrong????? Don't see how but anythings possible I guess.

I had a similar problem before I parked my GT. One day while I was cleaning I made the mistake of lubricating my throttle linkage with WD40. It worked great for a few days, but it quickly attracted dirt and grime like a magnet causing the linkage to stick like you described. I ended up getting some graphite based brake pad cleaner and sprayed it on the throttle linkage while moving it back and forth and it eventually cleaned the cable and solved my sticky throttle problem.
I posted earlier today how I solved the problem but I come back now to check and I see that my post somehow got lost in the internet void???? Wierd. Anyways it turned out that my father (who installed the throttle cable while I was at work) over tightened the gas pedal. Yup that was it. All I did was loosen the bolts move the pedal around a bit and retighten them with less torque. Throttle works perfect now. NOTE TO SELF: always check the simple things first...
