I've had a couple of general inquires regarding my wheel combo. I took some pictures of it. These are the ones that PIP let me post (less than 200,000 bytes).

This is what the 16x6 LeBaron wheel looks like:

This is what the 16x8 Turbo Grand Prix wheel looks like. The resemblance is uncanny.

This is a picture of what the outer edge of the tire looks like. They are almost too wide for the wheel arches, but I think the overall look is pretty boss. Using these wheels requires the A-body hub carrier swap for the 5x115mm bolt circle.

This is what the footprint looks like from the rear. That's a lot of rubber. The tires are 255/50-16.

Rear quarter view of the whole car:

Lookin' good.

I'm interested in the hub swap that you mentioned. Which hubs did you use, and what if any modifications did you have to perform to make them fit?

The reason I ask is because I've seen some nice looking rims on the Pontiac Montana vans (16" 5-spoke with Pontiac logo in center) that I think would look really nice on a Fiero.

I have the Lebaron wheels and love them! They fit perfect. I also have the same tires (712's) and for the price ($60.00 ea.) there the best I'v ever seen.

Hub carriers from a GM A-body (Pontiac 6000, Chevy Celebrity, Buick Century & some Olds models: http://discussions.gmforums.com/showthread.php?s=2135d858926f8bd7e9e2e19429fe5 196&threadid=10224 ) with HD brakes have the 5x115 bolt pattern. The entire hub carrier, bearing, brakes, and CV joint bolts up in place of the stock Fiero assembly. You will need to grind down the "fingers" on either side of the stock ball joint and do some tin snipping in the same area on the A-body dust shield, but other than that it's a total bolt-in installation.
If you have a manual trans, the large pattern outer CV joints will fit your axles directly. If you have an Auto, you'll have to mix and match axle parts until you have the large pattern inner joints and the larger diameter shafts, but AFAIK, it can be done with off-the-shelf parts. You may even be able to use the A-body axles directly. I haven't messed with Autos so I'm a little fuzzy on that.

Those tires had the primary virtue of being cheap.

Yeah, the LeBaron wheels have some endearing characteristics: they bolt right on, their large offset lightens the steering effort noticeably, and they look very similar to the TGP wheels. They're just not wide enough for me, however. I have 215/55's on them now, and that's pushing the width pretty hard. If I could find a matching 16x7 wheel, I'd go to 225/50 and have a much larger selection of tires available.

Another downside to this combo is that both the LeBaron and TGP wheels are pretty darn rare.

Looks Very Nice. I may have to hit the wreckers next weekend and see what they have in the line of Lebaron stuff.

Will: Thanks for the info. I'm assuming you have to use the A-Body brake hardware, too (which would leave you without a parking brake)?

I haven't tried that. However, if you look closely you'll see that the LB and TGP wheels have a denser mesh than the Fiero wheels. The Fiero wheels have 15(?) connections at the rim, while these wheels have 20. I'm not sure how that would look.

So let me get this straight. LeBarron wheels bolt right up? Ive always liked the factory wheels, but I would like them a little b******. If this is right, let me know. Cheers, Pat.

Yes I have the A-body hardware. The A-body swap adds 13lbs of unsprung weight per rear corner. I'm currently looking into the possibility of bolting on lighter brakes with hand brake hardware.

Yes, the LeBaron wheels bolt straight to the stock hubs, front and rear. They are 1" narrower than the stock mesh wheels, though.
