My rear window gets hot enough to cook on. I've vented the trunk lid but the air-flow still pushes air on the back window so much, I can feel the heat radiating off of it! Who has the gasket that runs the width of the engine lid? (Preferred New)....... John

I have no idea what an engine lid is let alone what a gasket is for one and how having it would keep your rear window cool.

If your rear window is hot, something is wrong.

I expect it has more to do with your forward exhaust manifold than anything else. check for cracks in the manifold before you do anything else. Have you noticd a lack of power and more noise than usual?

If your rear window has a leak in it, that could be A source of extra radiated heat. The rear window is held in place by a rubber sealant and I have known it to deteriorate on occassion. Usually the first sign is a rattling window. If yours is not rattling then the heat comes from somewhere else.

Try removing the center counsol to see if the rubber grommets for the accelorator cable, etal are in place. If those are missing, you'll definitely feel lots of heat at your back, as well as some fumes.

Good luck

The rear window getting hot allways happend in both of my duke powered fieros. I think its normal. The fiero engine compartment runs pretty hot, and the vent grates are right by the window. In all the V6 fieros I've driven there is quite a bit more heat coming out of the vents vs the 4 cyls.

I'm not sure if the rubber recall strip helps with this or not. I would think it would though. I beleave it was orignally removed for cooling reasons. So it should help a bit.

Recall campaign 88-C-24A removed the rubber dust seal and retaining clips from the front of the decklid assembly.

Mine has tinting on it and it just gets warm, that's all. I would check the vents to make sure they aren't stopped up with leaves or something. I believe you have a front exhaust manifold issue also if it gets that hot. Go outside with the engine running and see if you can feel hot air coming from the engine area from above.
