Is it easy to do a V8 or V6 swap with a 2M4 Fiero or is this insanily difficult and just a waste of time?

Or is there just no difference in difficulty between a 2M4 and 2M6 when it comes to engine swaps?

Been toying with a v8 swap for mine sometime in the future. I do know that the earlier cars (84/85, mon'es an 85) mauals had the isuzu transmission in them and that the later getrag based unit is better to use.
Other than that I cannot comment although I am sure there are plenty here who can.

There are many many threads on this. Please use search. Some of the bigger V6 options are essentially drop in. All V8 options are time consuming and expensive.

Please consider having Cliff (the sysop) change your user ID. We already have a MonkeyMan that is very well known. We generally try to avoid ID's that are similar here.

Ogre, got the 6666 post that time... is that worse than the 666 one?

;-)

Monkey. Lots and Lots of options. Read along for a month or so, use the search engine and read old threads that cover this. The options are endless, if it is worth it or not is a personal choice.

about the name, sorry, I have never actually seen anyone else in the forum with a similar name as of yet, it just happens to be the nickname I use for anything internet related.

I have been reading along, and basically my whole goal was to figure out that if I wanted to get a fiero and convert to a 3800 SC, should I try and start with a 2M4 or a 2M6? In buying one, which would be a better car to start with when doing an engine swap or should I just look for any fiero that I can find in a condition I am satisfied with?

Are you going to do the conversion yourself or have someone do it for you? If you don't intend on driving the car after you get it, any car will do that is in acceptable condition. You can even buy one made any way you like from ACE or a couple of other places. As for your name, there IS another member here called Monkeyman. He is a very active member and well known, just do a search under his username and you will see. It is a bit confusing to see your username and realize that you are really not him.

Its hard

the esiest are 3.4's (140hp) and 4.9's (205hp)

To do it youself you need a car lift method and a engine host

torque wrench
all sockets and keys
screw drivers and drills
patience and understanding of schmatics
electrical knowladge
Money ($800-$8000)
bandades
splints (broken bones)
serious tunes in the garage
and a punching bag
it helps alot if you know alot (mechanically) about cars

Thats generally

if you need specifics i'd love to help

let me know, PM me

Later
