Haynes specs to torque the exhaust manifold bolts on my 2.8 to 18ft/lbs. Seems a might loose to me. Just wanting to make sure Haynes isn't feeding me a line of BS.

I torqued all mine to what the Haynes manual said, and 12 months and 5k miles later almost all of them were loose, a coupleon the verge of falling out. I cranked them down.

Yeah that's the specs with GM gaskets. If you're using Felpro or some other thicker brand......I'd use about 25 or tighter. You want them tight, but not to the point that you might ring them off and they are only 8mm bolts remember so it doesn't take alot.....actually I just snugged mine by hand but I've been doing it a long time and have a good feel for it.

Last night I set the torque wrench to 25 and retorqed all the bolts. I guess I'll see how it works.
