I tried a dremel, then a griding stone on a drill. Is there anything that works better?

A pneumatic die grinder with the proper bit. You'll be there all day and all night with a dremel.....even with the die grinder it's a chore (depending on how much material there is to remove). t takes me about 1/2 an hour for each manifold to get it completely ported and smoothed out on the inside with a die grinder.

Do you have access to an air compressor and a die grinder? If you know someone with one see if you can "borrow" it for an hour or so.......it'll make your life a whole lot easier!

When I did mine, I tried dremmell tools,
pneumatic die grinders etc. what worked the best/fastest was a router with some long super heavy duty files (barrel shaped) available at my local hardware store (about
$22 each) the router made quick work out of
the most parts then I finished off with the
die grinder using dremmell grinding stones.
caution! the router will remove material in
a hurry. stop and see how much more you want
to remove every couple of minutes. don't
forget safety glasses and some hearing
protection. and wear gloves when handling
the manifolds after "routing" (hot) I just
realized you are in hickory n.c. I live
in statesville we are almost neighbors!

Thanks for the tips.

Ed, its good to see another Fiero owner close by, we need more Fieros around here.
I actually live in Newton, I just put Hickory because more people would know it.

went thru a set of stones in a drill then found a carbide bit for a mill that cut fast
in the drill without any loss of sharpness was a 1/4" shaft with a 1/2" ball fluted end.

carbide cutter, which probably is the heavy duty "files" listed above. I used a air-grinder w/ a bull-nose-and had to be careful from instantaneously notching the flange:-)
I get them from work-it's free!
