I thought I would start a new thread as I am not converting from something into something else. I have an 84, I have purchased a A/C unit from a 86 and installed it. I now need all the other parts and would prefer to use used parts. What all do I need? - I need a shopping list. Is there donor cars that have particularly good systems to take. I noticed that most of the domestic condensors (is that the part that goes in front of the radiator?) are really large and the import units are quite small. Given that, can I use a smaller condensor from a different car? I do not have the A/C lines so where do I get some made. I would rather not buy a complete system because a) I am really cheap and that would not fit with the rest of the work I have done on the car and, b) I love to do things for myself. Help and insite would be great. By the way, it was a fluke that I found a dismantled Fiero with the heater unit in, they are very rare, so I will not likely be able to grab the rest of the A/C parts from a Fiero - they are usually stripped beyond recognition.
