I currently have a 2.8 carbed motor in my fiero..
what other motors will bolt up to the fiero automatic tranny?
I am not worried about the mounting, exhaust, etc as long as it will fit in.

only thing I need is a carbed motor. (or can be made carbed)

I want to get one ready to do a change in the near future since I have another cradle I can get it built on.

will a 3.4 , 3.8 or 3800 motor fit these trannys easily?

and if so, what flywheel, etc would need to be used?

and what cars did they commonly come in so I can search for one?

Thanks

I think a 3.4 pushrod motor is what you are looking for. I am not sure about carbing it though.

I have read many times that the Caddy 4.9 will bolt up to the fiero tranny.

This link is AWESOME. It will list every engine that can fit in a fiero, how to install it, how much time it will take, and how much it will cost:

https://www.fiero.nl/cgi-bin/fiero/search.cgi?action=intro&default=2

No, no mistake, that's exactly where it should have taken you. Years of research and knowledge right there. I'm pretty sure you can find info on any engine swap you want.

By rough figures a fiero is approximately 200,000 square inches. In those inches are a lot of air and sheet metal that dont have questions asked. Figure there are maybe 10,000 square inches of car that actually get questions asked. There have been well over 10000 posts on this forum so by your philosophy, all possible questions have been asked and Cliff should pull the plug. You assume that nobody is trying anything new and everything that could be done has been done. There is nothing more irritating that coming to this forum and asking a serious question and then get blasted for not using the search function. The search is not the greatest, I just spent 10 minutes looking for a post I made and I still can't find it. I searched for engine swaps and never came up with a definitive list like the one posted above, so the question was a good one, I learned something from it. If it is an old question and you are tired of hearing about it, ignore it, but dont make someone feel bad.

Hey, cool, thanks for all that useless info. Stayed up pretty late last night myself wondering how many cubic inches comprised a fiero.
I'd say the poster and I are even now.
But another intersting point. From what I understand from Cliff's forum CD, he just came short on his first shot to fit it all on one CD. Maybe if you don't post the cubic inches of the fiero again, maybe it'll all fit in his next volume.
And honestly tell me your not tired of reading "how much is a v8 swap"? I think this list should have a link section, most of them pointing towards archie's archisms.

Original poster (sorry, that's a tough'in): We even?? (he got me good yesterday). If he's not mad, why are you?
