I am looking for input on slotted and/or drilled rotors. Are they worth the extra $$? Anyone have a source for these rotors? Would more aggresive pads be the best option?

>IMO< I'd say slotted are better then drilled. and if it's just a street car, don't waste your money. If you're going to be auto crossing the car, and you're going to be abusing those breaks like there's no tomorrow, yeah, it's worth it. otherwhys, invest the money in the SS braided break lines and a new set of pads.

My 2 bits . . . on a light car it is purely for looks. The intention is to redirect gases and aid in cooling. In most race circuits, those who use drilled rotors replace them on a frequent basis because they are more prone to warping and cracks. Stick with the undrilled unless you are just going for looks.

If you are looking for more stopping power, I'd go with a very good set of pads, and replace the brake lines with steel lines. I race my '84 in SCCA Improved Touring B, and have no problems what-so-ever with stock rotors, Carbomet pads up front, NAPA lifetime pads in back, and Earl's brake lines. Oh yeah, Ford Heavy Duty brake fluid as well (For their commercial trucks).

Drilled rotors look cool, but that's about all they are good for on a street car.
