I have aline in a 3.4 from a 94 camaro. Is this the "easy swap" motor? if so I have been tols that all I need is my 85 flywheel de-balanced and the starter mounts drilled out by a pro-shop.

How about the intake?
Will the exhaust manifolds from my fiero 2.8 fit? if not what mods have you guys needed to do...
Is the van 3.4 a more simple swap?

Thanks... you guys rule!!

The van motor is a fwd 3400 series, while the camaro is a rwd 3.4. There is more work required to put the 3400 in a fiero. The 3.4 is a direct swap besides the need to drill new starter bolt holes. Hope this helps

Any cast iron headed 3.4 is a direct swap.
Camaro's up to 1994 and Vans up to 1/2 of 1996. Everything after is aluminum heads and won't work with the Fiero intake. As for flywheel (A.K.A. Flexplate) You just need to buy one for an 88 Fiero. These were neutrally balanced since the engine is internally balanced. Autozone here sells the auto flywheel for $48.95 and the manual for $72.95. I don't know how much it costs to unweight a flywheel but it might be better just to get a new one.

Rent a drill guide from the fieroshop in CA and drill your own holes(see vendor list at bottom of page for contact info). It comes with a drill bit and a tap. Everything from the 2.8 swaps over to the 3.4. You'll need to weld a bolt in one of the holes of the engine shock bracket to act as a stud for the AC bracket. You can find alot more info if you do a search, or visit ed park's website.

Sorry, but de-balance just DOES NOT sound right. How about you have your 85 flywheel neutral-balanced.
