Thanks NY, When you say plug in a battery do you mean one of those accessory plugs and wire it to a 12 volt source. Part of my problem, I disconnected the positive lead from the battery forgot about it and shut the lid. And I do not have a key lock any longer.
Yes, exactly. They even have ones of these you can buy with a battery already on them at many auto shops and I think even home depot. It shouldn't take much power just to run that relay.
jack up rear of car. use jumper cables and jumper source. connect red lead to large post (+) at the starter. connect black lead to chassise frame. push button.

i never understand how this happens. typically, when i disconect the battery, i have the grill removed and laying in the trunk this gives me access to the battery whenever i need it.

That's ok if you are at your home or in a garage, but a lot of us work in Apt parking lots or on the street & you have to worry about some idiot stealing your battery, so we leave the battery disconnected, because we aren't finished. Reinstall the eng covers and leave the bat disconnected, to go in the apt for the night, and shut the decklid. OOOPPPS!! TOO LATE!! We keep extra keys tho inside the apt. Don
If you have an electric trunk release either power it through the cig lighter or pull the trunk release relay out of it's socket and put the power to it that way
