I've got an 87GT (obviously) and with the windows down the doors rattle and are very annoying. Is this a common problem? I've taken it to a very good body mechanic and he adjusted them as much as possible to try to get rid of the chatter. Is it possible that new weather stripping could help remedy this problem? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks-Josh

The doors on my 87GT go squeakysqueaky over bumps too. Didn't think my hinges were bad because the doors don't sag at all and they close without rubbing. Sounds more like the panels rubbing than the latch and striker.

Yeah, I'd say that the doors are more clunky than squeaky. In this town they let the roads go to **** before they fix them. It's going to be a long summer with the windows down.
Thanks for all the responses. I think I'm going to replace the hinges and pins. Anyone ever try the Lamborghini door hinges yet?

I have sort of the same problem. It seems no matter how hard you try not to slam my doors, they ALWAYS slam shut. Is there any way to soften the blow? I'm afraid that not doing anything to fix this might cause the glass to shatter, etc.

I had the same problem (windows down, hit bump and door rattles). Well I learned from the board to use electrical tape and wrap the striker pins in it (about 2 or 3 wraps). The problem with this is it doesn't last long.
So what I did was went and bought some pvc tubing (the thinest I could find....I think it is 5/8 in diameter and 1/2" thick). Well this was still too thick (the door wouldn't close). So I bought some sand paper and started to sand the outside of the pvc tube to make it thinner. Well I sanded and sanded and sanded (a dremel tool would have come in handy for this) to get it as thin as possible and tried keeping it the same thickness all the way around. Well when I got it down to the same thickiness as about 2 sheets of paper I tried it on the striker pin. IT WORKED. It fit on, and the door closes. Took car for a test spin and hit some bumps and my driver door didn't rattle. So I went home and made another one for my passenger door. Only problem I ran into was my doors stuck alittle bit (when tring to open them). all I did to solve this was remove the tubing from the striker pins and sand just a little more off (now it is perfect) No rattle, and the door closes nice and tight (it has that new door close sound).
I also heard that the mid 80- early 90 S-10 sriker pin will fit the fiero. Don't know how true this is......I couldn't find any s-10's in my local bone yark with good pins!

Open the door slightly and try to pull up on the door....if it moves...the hinges or bushings are bad. Also, as stated above...look at your door striker...it should have a roller on it, but it prob wore off years ago. I'd replace the strikers. They are available at NAPA I know....and I'm sure many other parts stores and are quite cheap....I think like $10 apiece.
Hopefully I'll have time to get some strikers this weekend. There are no rollers on them. Hinges couldn't hurt. I'll post results on how much the new strikers helped. Thanks all.

Just installed new GM stricker bolts on my 88 coupe. Seems to have cured the problem. The part # is 10569 20464563, $9.50 list. they (bolts) seem to have been dipped in a hard plastic. Worked for me! John M.
