Ok, whenever my car is running and i turn on something electrical, ie. headlights, heater, pop the trunk, the car wants to die. The tach filter is gone bad, is it possible that i just gotta replace the tach filter and the problem will go away? I have replaced all the grounds at the electrical box in front of the battery and the problem still continues. Any ideas anyone?

I wouldn't think so...

The tach filter will make your tach not opperate correctly but it shouldn't make any difference as far as the performance of the car.

Do a search on tach filter and you will see that it can cause all sorts of problems. If you are worried about it causing problems just jumper it out or disconnect it.

Matt,

Are you disconnecting ONLY the tach filter?
You still have a white wire on the coil, right? Heres an Acrobat version of the wiring diagram FYI. http://www.euronet.nl/users/fo_elmo/fiero08.pdf

When I unplugged mine the car would still start and run (V6) but the tach would not show a reading. To get a tach reading you need to jumper the two wires in the plug together(where the tach filter was plugged in) to complete the line back to the tach from the coil. If you are worried about electrical problems from this, check out www.rodneydickman.com he sells a replacement tach filter that he makes. I will post a picture of my tach filter when I get home later today.

Matt,

Sounds like you may have some big voltage drops due to poor electrical connections. Do you have a good solid 13 to 14 vdc between the pink wires at the ignition coil and ground? Does this voltage drop when you turn on an electrical load (it shouldn't)?
You may be able to diagnose this problem just as well with the engine not running. Measure voltage at the battery (or any other location) to chassis ground and also to engine block ground. Do this with no loads on, then start applying loads and look for excessive voltage drops by measuring voltage at those same locations. You said that you replaced the ground braids. Does that include the ground strap from the engine block to the right-side decklid hinge bolt?
If all looks well with engine not running, then repeat checks with engine running. Keep us updated.
