I hear people talking all the time about a brake upgrade with Camaro & Cadillac calipers. Exactly which years of Camaro and which models & years Cadillac? How much of a bracket is necessary in the rear?

How do/did you like the 1LE calipers? My brake upgrade has been delayed for another month. I am trying to get my truck running, so I have something to drive.
Some people have winter projects. Mine has turned into a big summer project. I am replacing more than the brakes.
I love the 1LE calipers. I still have the stock calipers and take them with me to the track just incase something happens.
The brakes work great , they haul the car down from any speed quickly and with little drama. There are a few little tricks you can do to get the system working better.
removing the spring in the balancer is one of them. It just balances the brakes more towards the rear than the stock setup.

Now I know what year Cadillac calipers to look at...
Are the Caddy or Camaro calipers by chance cast in aluminum? Would a differential piston Wilwood possibly be better for the street?
What I'm really after is an aluminum calipered rear brake setup which will bolt onto A-body hub carriers. These are almost exactly like early Fiero hub carriers, except for the larger bearing hole and the caliper mounts moved out radially. Using all A-body parts adds 13 lbs of unsprung weight per side to the rear. I was hoping to claw some of that back by getting rid of the A-body 10.2 x 1 rotors and cast iron calipers and going to 10.2 x .8 rotors and cast aluminum calipers with parking brake stuff.
I'm not sure if the parts exist for that, though.

That sounds like a good idea for a future project, but I've already got a pair of dynalites. How much do the GMIII's cost? Wilwood finally sent me their latest catalog, but it doesn't have a price list.

You could have an adapter ring machined... but why?
The aforementioned Camaro & Cadillac upgrade using mounting brackets on stock hub carriers is functionally exactly what you'd end up with using the A-body hub carriers with no brackets, except that the A-body setup would weigh more. Depending on the cost of the adapter ring, the A-body setup might be cheaper.
In my eyes, the whole point of doing the A-body conversion is to have the 115 bolt circle. I did it to fit a set of 16x8 Grand Prix Turbo wheels I found in a local junkyard. I don't like that I have accept that kind of weight penalty and give up my parking brake.
For what it's worth: The Wilwood GMIII's have a 2.75 inch piston, but the 1LE "heavy duty" Camaro caliper is aluminum and has 2 pistons that are 1.5 inch each.
