I have a 88 Formula. I think I may have a alternator on the way to the Fiero grave yard in the sky. My volt gauge reads about 14 or 15 when driving. When I am at a stop and turn on a turn signal, the gauge moves back and forth to the rythem of the signal. Just sitting there dancing and laughing at me. Is this normal? Is the alternator ready to die on me? Anything that can help would be apreciated.

I will go out today and put the volt meter to the alternator and see what its really putting out.
The car starts and runs fine. Except for those anoying squeeks from the poly bushings.

Are you talking about my car or yours???

Mine has both symptoms as well. I figured th voltage regulator was going out. I have another one to put on mine to see if that's the problem.

i think mine's going but not in a way i've seen before. i get the belt squeeking if it idles for a bit, like at a stop light. the meter goes down to 13. then when i take off it squeals louder then kind of "catches". the belt stops squeeking and the voltages moves back to normal. hoping i can tighten my belt or use some belt dressing.

Same thing happened here. Turned out to be the water pump. It wasnt really lettin the belt turn(squealing) and in turn made the voltage go down(alt). It did that on and off till i replaced it.
