Hey guys. I got done checking all cylinder pressures again, and I finally have certain results. Okay, I got 120, 120, 120, 125, 125, and 130 PSIs. All within 10% + or -, so I'm happy. Now, I added a little oil into three of the plug holes (front ones), and I got 170, 150, and 150 PSIs. After sh*tting myself, I began to wonder how this can happen on a 65K mile 86 GT engine. Hmm. I was wondering if this may be caused by the lack of use. It is 16 years old and has 65K original miles on it. Not much for the year. I'm wondering if I drove it for a while, if the pressures would go back up. I have no blue smoke under acceleration; just white smoke that lasts for a little while, but not under shifts. Thanks for any help. I'm hoping for a little ray of hope to hang onto. If I'm outta luck, I'm probably going to have a 4.9 swapped in if mine ever goes. Thanks. I appreciate it.

Blue smoke would be an indication of leaving valve seals or valve guides. Your problem appears to be the Rings. Those numbers sound ok, and although not great, none of them is under a hundred which is the minimum acceptable. I would not worry to much

I'd run it for a while and re-test.

Well, I let it run for 45 minutes, and didn't get any better results. Here are my numbers:

-10W40 Valvoline w/ approximately 1500 miles.
-60 psi oil pressure when started (according to gauge)
-20 psi oil pressure when run for 45 mins (I need a new sender; I've checked.)
-white smoke on startup that lasts for 5-10 minutes. Smells like normal exhaust.
-no blue smoke whatsoever, from 1000-5000 RPM.
-run up to ~180*
-1000-1200 RPM idle.
-no engine noises, knocks, taps, etc. whatsoever.

Now here's the dry pressures:

Cyl 1: 130
Cyl 2: 130
Cyl 3: 130
Cyl 4: 130
Cyl 5: 130
Cyl 6: 130

I couldn't add oil to the rear bank spark plugs, as I couldn't reach anything back there. I did take wet pressures on the front however:

Left: 170
Center: 150
Right: 150

I know this is a significant increase, but I'm relatively happy that the dry pressures are within 0% of each other, and I have no leakdown whatsoever. I'm hoping this engine will last for at least this summer, hopefully longer. I was going to put nitrous on it, but I've reconsidered, taking into consideration that I do not street race much. I'm just going to have to stick with the smaller modifications and aesthetics. Thanks.

Sounds like normal wear to me.. Even a brand new motor with good ring seat will show at least some increase on a wet test.
Normal wear such as this will typically result in increased blowby, rather than visually observable oil burning from the exhaust.

Thanks. I've been trying to find some other compression results for comparison, but I've come up empty-handed. Thanks again, and I'll try to look for others. I hope you're right; I'd like to take my nitrous and other mod cash and put it into 17s and 18s.
