The superduty engine is a 2.7L 232 horse engine used in small race cars a while back, they are great for the fiero, but not easy to get ahold of but they arent too bad. they were basically a redisigned duke engine, with a bigger crank reinforced block and bigger head on it, i think they were aluminum also, (correct me if wrong) for the money yuo are better off to put in a v8 or a 3800SC

just my two cents worth

The SD4 (Super Duty 4-cyl) was a Pontiac designed race version of the 2.5L duke. You could get them in 2.5, 2.7 or 3.0L engines. They are streetable up to 285 HP and full race can go as high as 550 hp (these are normally aspirated) There are a few parts left around but most just have used engines.
The common size is the 2.7L and they pushed out about 232 HP. The engines are expensive to buy. I have seen a few used ones go for $8000 to $10,000.

No they are not aluminum.

If you look on Ebay, occasionally they have a magazine called "Pontiac Performance Plus" this has the entire story including all part numbers and such of how they built the SD4's and the Fiero GTU and GTP race cars.

The 1984 Pace car Fiero (whose body became the 1985 GT, well, at least the nose) had the first SD4, IIRC. SD was an important fixture in Pontiac lore, most famously the SD-455 in 1973 and 1974 T/A's and Formulas (not really in 1974, only 57 Formulas got them)
