I've got an 88 sport coupe and just curious about a few things ...

*What size are the brake rotors?
*What brand would be a good replacement and nice improvement?
*Where could I get some caliper rebuilt kits cheap?
*Anyone know anyone that makes caliper decals? ones that say "FIERO" on them.

Stock '88 rotors are 10.3" in diameter. If you need new rotors I highly recommend spending the extra $$ and getting genuine AC Delco. I think the aftermarket ones are more prone to warping.

I can't help you with rebuild kits or teh stickers.

I've also had good luck with NAPA premium rotors....NOT the tru stop cheappies. They may be close to the price of original GM rotors tho.....no idea. Other questions...no idea.....remember..calipers get very hot! Gonna be hard to find a material that will not melt right off of them.

NAPA also makes caliper rebuild kits and the tru-stop ones are fine to use on the front rotors. Don't recommend rebuilding the rear yourself. Not easy, and if there is anything wrong with the piston....you will need to buy a rebuilt caliper anyway. Buy rebuilt caliper if you need it.

If you want to upgrade your rotors, the fiero store has crossdrilled rotors for a faster stop and greater heat disipation.

We offer brake packages and suspension upgrades for Fieros (heldmotorsports.com)
and we were looking into the possibility
of having DBA create direct replacement
rotors for '88 Fieros. They would be
similar to our 11.3" and 13" brake rotors
which are gold anodized, cross-drilled,
slotted, etc... as you can appreciate,
I need to commit to about 100 rotors for
them to move forward. Let me know the interest level and a target price.
thanks for the space...

Hi dave...

What? Not all 88 Fieros have Dave's 13 inch cross-drilled vented rotors on them like mine?

They SHOULD!

Dave,

I have to say the stock '88 brakes are pretty good, it would take a pretty substantial improvement to make the investment in a full-scale upgrade worthwhile. For me, that would be C5-level braking, and that would be the 12" kit at least, and that's $2700. I'd be interested in these if you could keep the price under $100 per rotor. Seeing that the 11.3's are $125 I hope that isn't unreasonable.

$105.00 is the target price... The trick
is to see if there is a market for them
prior to making a large commitment.

What would the price be if purchased as a package of 4? Would it be less?

Dave
