I finaly got a chance to check my codes on my 86.5 GT, It turns out that a code 23 is present. I think this means the MAT sensor or something is sensing too low of a temp. If any of you have experienced this, I would like to know what it took for it to be corrected. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

If i recall correctly, code 23 is Throttle Position Sensor reading too high. What that usually means is that it is stuck at wide open throttle. all you really need to do, is to pull it up with your finger and you should be good. I had a code 23 with mine quite often, and that's always what it is.

Thanks pHoOl, but I'm not sure where the TPS is, I have a Haynes manual but haven't had a chance to read up yet. I think its the sensor to the rear of the throttle-body, if it is, it appears to be functioning correctly, (the little lever thingy goes up and down with the throttle, without getting stuck.)
I was doing some more research this afternoon, and other places on the net said code 23 was the Manifold Air Temp, (MAT) sensor, that's what I thought, but now I really have no idea. The car seems to run well, so I guess its not really important, but that damn SES light is really annoying when you are showing your new car to your friends, and they think the engines busted. Oh well, I know its not busted(I hope).

This sensors is located in the air cleaner housing - easy to replace and the sensor does not cost too much. Check your sensor with a volt-ohm meter. Based on temperature and measured resistance compare your results to those in the table at:

Cheers!

You might try a Chilton's manual, they suck hiney most of the time, but they have a diagram listing all of the check engine light codes and what they mean.
