I know many people have gone 200k without many problems. I'm at 165k on my car without any repairs so far. *knock on wood*

There's no evidence of any repairs being done before; the recalls weren't performed until last year, doesn't look like the heads have ever been off, original everything under the hood(s). I'll assume a clutch has been put in it. I have done some maintenance to it since I got it (about 10k miles ago), but most the stuff I've done has been performance oriented.

I have seen Fieros with over 300,000 miles on them with the original engine and transmission - I have one myself with over 200,000 miles on the engine and it still runs strong. Just keep the fluids changed at regular intervals and take good care of it and it should last a long time.......

My 86SE V6 got a rebuild at 189K and when I got it apart the cylinder walls still had the original crosshatch hone marks in them and no ridge at the top.

The 88 Coupe that I just purchased has 301K miles and I drove it home and it seems to have a bad O2 sensor and water pump, but runs and idles smooth up to about 3000 RPM where it really stumble. It's probably just a sensor thing.

My 85GT that my daughter drives had the oil pump, timing set, and water pump replaced Labor Day week of 2000. The mechanic said the engine hadn't been opened before. It now has 282K miles on it, runs as strong as my 87GT with 85K miles. I change oil & filter at 5000 mile intervals, and the car is just now occasionally showing a puff of smoke during cold startup. So does the 87. My wife and I took the 85 on a week long trip and left all the tools at home. It's that dependable. Since '93 when I bought it at 135K miles, it has failed me twice. One ignition module in '96 and the fuel pump last year.

They should be able to go to at least 300 to 400k if properly maintained....oil change every 3k miles or mobil1 which use. And no real abusive driving..ie....over revving the engine. Unfortunately, I've seen many 2.8's go with less than 150k. Maintenance is key dude.

Mine lasted about 70K miles before bearings went bad. Two days after I bought it. I didn't even have the time to do an oil change on her. Oh well, 3.4 time

The highest milage one I've seen was 427K on an 87 coupe. Maybe he'll bring it back to Carlisle this year.
