I searched for this info and could not find any. Last night when I dimmed the headlights I heard a pop and then the dimmer switch quit working, thank god they were on low beam. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to replace the dimmer switch or if I have to replace the whole column? Thanks for your help.

sure.....remove the 4 bolts that hold the panel under the steering column, then the 2 bolts or nuts that hold the column up. Allow the column to drop down as far as possible. On the left side of the column you will see 2 steel rods going down to two switches. One goes to the dimmer switch which sits on top of the ign switch. Squeeze the tabs of the dimmer switch wiring connector and disconnect it. Then remove the two screws or nuts that hold the dimmer switch on. It's a good idea to take a piece of duct tape and tape the dimmer rod in place so that it does not fall out and stays in place. Then remove the switch. Put the new switch in place, putting the rod in the little hole on the dimmer. Replace the screws or nuts and pull the switch up toward the steering wheel until you remove slack without putting alot of tension on the switch. Tighten the bolts/screws, plug in the wiring harness and test the headlamps and dimmer before you put the rest back together. Hope this helps.

Phil

Thanks GT Dude, I thought I was going to have to take the center out of the steering column. I will take a look at this as soon as I can and let you know how it went.
