I do it at every oil change....probably overkill, but it's just easier than trying to remember the last time it was done. Under normal conditions prob once ever 6 mo is ok.

I have done mine when I changed oil and will continue to (GT Dude is probably right and it is "overkill" but it can't hurt).
I just hope I got all the grease fittings!
Quick question????? The ones I did were the 2 on each front wheel and the 2 on each rear wheel (8 total). Are those the only ones to worry about, or are there more things to grease when greasing these things???????

I have never done thins before . Maybe thats why my fiero often squeeks over bumps. Will my chiltons tell me what to do? Or will I have to ask the forum for advice?
Don't have a chiltons manual but my hayes manaul and my fiero owners manually explains the proceedure.
Really nothing to it...need a grease gun with a flexible tube (so you can get to the grease fittings) not a grease gun with a metal tube (can't get to all the fittings with one of those). Then fill all the grease fittings with grease (any grease fittings you see)....don't over fill them or you'll blow out the little rubber grease puffs.

There are also ones on the tierod ends. that would make it 3 per wheel, >lower ball joint >upper ball joint >Tie Rod end
84-87 all 6 ball joints and all 4 outer rod ends are greasable. Or at least they are suposed to be.... some service parts may not be.
They should be greased at least a couple times a year but be careful, pumping in too much grease can pop the boots. A hand grease gun is usually the best choice. If a hand operated one won't push in the grease then the fiting is probably bad. (You can get replacement grease fittings from any decent parts store.)
If the boots are really full use a small flat blade screw driver to CAREFULLY streatch the boot open where the "bolt" exits it. I use one of those cheap little screw drivers people are often giving away as promotional items. I bent over the tip of one a bit. I just slide it in over and hook the boot to give the grease a path to exit.

I grease the suspension in my car once a year. Yeah, I'm lazy.
Anyway, there are 3 fittings per front wheel and 2 per rear wheel. Here are the locations:
**Front wheels** 1) lower ball joint (underneath the lower suspension arm) 2) upper ball joint (on top of upper suspension arm) 3) outer tie rod end (where the tie rod meets the spindle)
**Rear wheels** 1) lower ball joint (underneath the suspension arm) 2) outer tie rod end (where the tie rod meets the spindle)
Don't trust this to quick lube places. If they any they probably won't do all of them.
The top ones can be really difficult to get from in the pit used by many quick lube places. They more often than not just skip them and say they did however many a book says the car has.
