Next I made recess's for my mids in firewall Started with couple margine continers and filled with glass, Then made tinfoil lips and poured strait glass in those. Cut a couple holes and installed.
TIP- take all the parts and pieces of the roof of the car before starting stereo my soldering gun shook of the roof and landing on one of my subs- lucky I didnt poke a hole in it

Neat idea, but I still wouldnt cut my firewall all the way through like that, unless I was going to weld the seam around whatever it was I was putting in there...good job with the fiberglassing though.
yes thats a concern considering there is a turbo and steel header back there too. Im planning on a 1" insulation and a aluminum or stainless heat shield back there
Is that enough room for the speaker to work anygood? Have you listened to them yet? Just curious, but it seems like it would need a larger area than that to be sealed in, to produce much bass. Looks like nice work with the fiberglass. Would love to see some pics when the car is all put together and a finished project!
are you sure you want those speakers behind the seats? I didnt see any tweets, im geussing that was a co-ax? anyway, if thats not a seperate, your going to KILL the highs out of those speakers. from that position, it apears your going to be firing 80% of that speaker into the rear of the seat. dont think I'm trying to give you a hard time, im just trying to help. I love a good system, and would love to see another one, but It just looks like when you put the seats back in, you will be firing those speakers into the shoulder of the seat. Highs dont do well unless they are fired into an open area. they tend to be muffled, or non-existant.you could, if the seats were off the rear wall at all time, you could get more out of those two by changing the angle on them, making them fire more into open space, and more specicaly, it would be aimed at the occupants. with the right tuning, you could really add to the overall quality of the system.
Just a thought, Myke

Looks nice just seems crazy to have a big hole in a FIREWALL.If you had a big fire back there, you would be toast. An aluminum heat shield is about as good as a paper heat shield. If you were to make this modification on any sanctioned race series car they would throw you off the track.

Just one comment. I bet you have never seen a front manifold glowing red hot did you. That day will be interesting with your car. Keep a least two fire extingushers handy. Please.
