My Acceleration pedal is near the floor and I can pull about 2 inches of slack at the throttle on the motor. I'm planning on pulling the motor in a few months anyway, but in the mean time would like to correct this problem. At the engine there are only fixed ball ends on the cable. Where to I take this slack out?

Hi! Welcome to the forum.

Is the pedal bent? Can you push it enough to get it wide open?

Check the cable mounting at both ends. Has it always been this way, or was it working properly at one time?

Either your pedal is bent or the cable is stretched......prob the cable. Push the gas pedal all the way to the floor and have someone make sure it's opening the throttle all the way (which I doubt). Easiest thing to do is go down to the gas pedal, pull out the excess cable and take a cable lug and tighten it close to the pedal. I've seen the welds on the gas pedal get weak and twist, making the pedal drop down closer to the floor. If it seems unusually low, bend it back up to the proper height, remove it and have it rewelded. Good luck.

On a similar topic..is there a lube spot for the pedal? Mine is very stiff and is sometimes hard to get to the floor. I have lubed the throttle cable at the block and surrounding areas and I also threw some W-D40 in the area of the pedal itself but it hasn't helped.
