Well, I've fixed my problem with the manifold glowing and the car wont stay idling. it starts fine. After turning the key it jumps up to 3500 rpms and then drops to idle speed of about 1000- 1500 rpms. Then it drops below 1000 and the engine stalls.

If I give it gas before it stalls for about 30 seconds then it will drop to 1000 and idle fine.

I'm lost on this one.

I've replaced:
the vacuum lines
EGR tube
EGR valve
coolant temp sensor
cold start sensor,
vapor canister
Throttle position sensor
sparkplugs
ECM and Prom
thermostat
and
I was told by the previous owner that he had just replaced:
the Idle Air control
Distributor
pickup coil

Oh, and it's a brand new engine with only 12 miles on it.

Any ideas?

I don't understand how after warming up it can idle at 1000rpms fine, but when cold it stalls at the same rpm.

the Idle Air control has a plug clip for wires pull off and spray clean with WD-40
on both sides. cheap if it works and has worked for me.
or check cold start jet and wires to it.
throtal plate too far open at start?

I'm going to check it out. maybe I'll try adjusting the idle manually and see if it helps.

The start is strong, so I doubt it's the cold start, once you turn the key it cranks right up with no assistance. it just stalls as the rpms drop.

It just doesn't make since how it can run fine after warming up but keep stalling while cold.

Have you driven it for a while? The car needs to be driven over 40 MPH with the engine fully warmed up in order for the ECM to reset itself. Also, the ECM will "learn" the engine settings over a period of time while you drive the car. You may want to double check the timing--the V6 seems to be very sensitive to too much advance (at least mine is).

now that it is rebuilt I have to get it registered again so I can drive it for an extended period of time. right now, up and down the driveway is about all I've accomplished.
