I was on my back , under my '87 GT . A posistion I'm in too often . If you look up , on the pass. side , in front of rear tire , in back of pass. door ,,,, there appears to be a tank , with two hoses going to it . It is outboard of the battery , but only can be seen from the bottom !!!! WHAT IS IT ??????

The Fiero manual shows only one vapor canister in the system and that's in the engine compartment near the air filter and it has 3 hoses going to it. I have no idea what it is but i'm gonna be under my car today so I'll take a look.

Phil, you are right about the placement of the fuel vapor canister (part #17075840), but the part on the other side of the car that he described is a fuel vapor tank (part #10041455)(it can only be seen from underneath as it is between the frame beside the battery and the right wheel well liner). If you follow the two hoses from the vapor canister you will see them transvrse the forward firewall and connect with the fuel vapor tank. It is all part of the emission system.

Phil, the shop manual isn't all inclusive at times. It is in the P22 parts manual on page 3-44. It is item #84 on the diagram.
