I work for a company that was displaced after September 11th. Since then, I have been traveling back and forth between sites in NY and NJ. I bought a Fiero to use to make my commute a more pleasent experience..anyway here's the funky thing - The past three years, I have seen a yellow SE parked in the parking lot of one of the hotels I stay at. I went up to it last night to take a look, and it turns out it hasn't been moved since 1999! all the registration info is very very out-of date, and there is a BLANK "for sale" sign sitting on the passenger-side seat. I'd be VERY surprised if it would start. (besides the fact that the battery is probably LONG dead...
I can't believe it's been sitting there there for three years!!!!!
So the question is, how do I find out who owns it?!? I guess I will start my search by asking people who work in the hotel today when I get back from work. The liscense plates are still on the car.
The whole situation is just plain odd. any ideas?

Believe it or not but if this situation happened in California, you could tow the car to your house and file a lost title with the DMV. It may be the same in NY. If you can;t find the owner, and don't have the gall to tow it yourself, call the PD and they will tow it for being abandond. Wait 30 days for the owner to claim it. If the owner doesn't show up, they sell them at auction. Something like that you could get for under a hundred bucks. Good luck.
I'd be very cautious. Find out all you can or what you can do before you get stuck with a tow bill and a lawsuit. Like DRH said, I find it odd that it's sat for years abandoned why it hasn't been towed already. If you can locate the owner, I imagine you can make a deal on it. Good Luck!
It doesn't look stolen, the only thing missing is the sail-piece on the driver's side. The trunk lock is missing, but it doesn't look like it was ripped out (no ragged hole).

Actually its mine.. I umm... parked it there once when I was staying at that hotel while clubbing and forgot where I parked it.. umm...what hotel again was it? J/K
I would say get your ass in gear and call everyone you can to locate someone who will give you permission to take her home
maybe hit the DMV and file a claim on it as an abandoned car. Good luck and keep us informed how you get along with her
