Let me first give you the history of the little trouble maker. I got her 2 years ago, gave her a rebuilt engine and tranny. Gave her virtually all new mechanical and yet she still acts up on me. Well today I was driving down the highway and I saw the check engine light come on and I felt a sudden loss of power. I immediatly downshifted hoping that may help but it stayed around 1500 rpm. I then shut off the car to look at the engine abut when I looked nothing looked wrong with it. I hopped back in and everyI turned the key and everything sounded like it was going to start but the engine would never turn over. I need help here. I was thinking would my cat converter cause that much of a problem that soon. Also I just replaced my throttle cable the other day and that is still doing fine.

Check the wire going to the fuel pump. Mine melted that sucker in 2 and caused a similar problem.

It was the ignition coil. After looking at it more in depth when the tried to start you could see the arch from the coil. Why in the wold did GM decide to rivet the coil to the bracket. You know it isnt the best thing to do considering when you break down you usually dont have a battery drill on hand.
