i am planning on flushing and filling my coolant system soon and i was just wondering how many gallon's of coolant/anti-freeze do i need to buy. And is it a very complicated deal? I have a Chilton w/ all of the instruction's but it didn't say how much anti-freeze to use. Thanks!!!

The 1984 with AC= 14.2 QTS.

w/o AC= 13.7 QTS.

1985-88 w/o AC= 13.8 QTS.

with AC 2.5L manual= 14.1 QTS.
2.5L auto = 13.8 Qts.
2.8L V6 = 13.8 Qts.

(All info per HAYNES Fiero manual)

Lets just say about 14 Qts.!!!

Right - so 14qts capacity and you want at least a 50/50 mix, so just get 2 gallons of anti freeze and top it off with water and you'll be fine. Be sure to flush out the system, but don't worry about water left in the system. If you put in 2 gals of pure antifreeze, then top off with water, that's a 57% antifreeze mix. Just about perfect.

Be sure to use only distilled water. Don't use tap water -- too many impurities that cause corrosion. Distilled water is also one of the BEST at removing heat from the system, which is why the cooling system is there anyway. You can buy it at the local grocery store for about $1.00 a gallon.
