Has anyone else had this problem... my driver side door is scraping the quarter panel when ever the door is closed. There is no gap between the door and the panel when the door is shut. I've tried these mehtods so far to attempt to fix this:

-moved door skin as far towards the front of the car as possible

-new door hinge pins (upper and the lower)

- tried to move the hinges where they connect with the body as far towards the front of the car as possible

I don't believe it's the quarter panel that is mounted incorrectly cuz everything lines up correctly.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanx

I have the same problem, and haven't solved it yet. I think the key is to move the door forward at the hinges. Maybe oval the holes if necessary.

I've tried to move the hinges at the body far as they would go towards the front of the car. It looks like I'll have to take the door off and try enlargeing the holes to slide it more.

No need to enlongate the holes. Just loosen the top hinge that is against the body and put a long thin shim on the side towards the rear of the car between the hinge and the frame. A thin shim raises the rear of the door quite a bit. You may have to try a few thicknesses to get it right.

So should I shim up the bottom hinge as well? the scraping is taking place between the lower part of the door and the quarter panel. The upper part of the door and quarter panel aren't hitting.

a shim at the top will move the bottom forward a tiny bit. If you shim the bottom your rite back to square one.
