Cal. Kid, have you done this? Has anyone done this? How good does it work? I'm wanting to get rid of my antenna, but also want to listen to the radio at times.

    Adam,
Had the fender hole filled when I had the car painted this year, haven't run the wire and hooked it up yet (listen to mostly custom CD's and been to lazy). I did talk to a couple Michigan Club Fiero owner who had done it, and they were very satisfied. Based on your location, it would still be best to do what the article says. Test it out first running the wire outside up to the sunroof, remember most radio's have an antenna "tuning" adjust screw somewhere that may improve performance even more (typically you set radio to a mid band station and adjust screw for best reception.
    Hope this helps.

Could I get one of those antenna leads at Wal-mart? Do they completely replace the old antenna "wire" or are they just an extension? Sorry I don't know much about this kinda stuff. I might try this today. Don't really have anything else to do

    Cal Kid,
Very nifty way to deal with obtrusive antennas. Just have to check the best type of connectors for it. Thanks for the info.

u can get an antenna lead anywhere, just buy a cheap antenna and cut it off at the base. even get one from a junkyard. I use one of the flat, self adhesive antennas on mine that I ran along the top and side of the windshield inside, under the trim. Works fine in town, strong stations up to like 50 miles, and thats with AM. They only cost like $4.00

This is inherently going to produce poor recption. An antenna is the length it is for a reason. The FM antenna is designed to produce gain for those specific FM freq. If you change the length by doing this you will lose the gain produced. You still will pick up the stronger stations but probably not the weaker ones. You also will likely have a problem when traveling distances between cities. But if you only care about the stronger stations and stay in thier coverage area this is a good idea.

I did the same, filled the antenna hole. Never got around to putting a new antenna in though, I either listen to CDs, or the engine growling through the gears

F50 Ferraris don't have a stereo, don't have provisions or hookups for one or speakers of any sort. Guess they figure all the entetratnment comes from the 520bhp V12 bolted to the carbon tub you're sitting in
(and from hitting 100mph in 5.3seconds)

    Best!
