Ok I've changed a few windows in the past but this is the first one for a Fiero.

Is there something I am missing because I can NOT get the window to come out through the top of the door. I removed the end seals
(weather stripping?) but the bushings on the window rail will not come through the openings. I'm used to it being difficult but not impossible.

Do I have to drill the rivets remove the bushings from the glass and bolt them back on in the door I am putting the window in?

If so has any one done this. Got a heads up on the vibrations? don't want to shatter the window while drilling.

Thanx for any advise.

Maybe Ill just take the door and put the motor in it for the window.

I doubt you'll break the window by drilling the rivets out. I noticed that someone had already done that to mine when I was installing my new dew wipes.

Ya .. I figure that this is the only way they can do it if you take the car into an auto glass place..

Unless they have some magic words that I'm not aware of

Pontiac forgot to put these magic words in their repair manual I've got the Pontiac shop repair manual for the 84 .. it says to attach all of the bushings to the glass then insert it into the door. (oddly enough they do not show the actual insertion or removal of the glass from the door) Magic I tell ya it has to be.

Think perhaps someone was napping when they wrote that How-To

Take a punch and gently tap the center pin of the rivet out, then drill. You can reattach with either another rivet or a 1/4" bolt and nut

Drilled the rivets .. then used bolts to reatach..

Would not be a problem at all .. (if you have decent drill bits.. Time to get some new ones)
