I compared two sets.

4 spd V6 CA and Fed
5 spd V6 CA and Fed

The difference:
Prom ID (expected)
Checksum (expected)
Cold Engine AFR MAP vs CTS is run .1 richer for CA in the 90F coolant range. No real difference for all intents and purposes.

So, they are the essentially the same.

I believe that it was me that you were doing that for. I would have thought there would be more of a difference than that. It makes you wonder why they even bothered. Thank you.

I think that since CA has "different" standards, the auto companies feel compelled to make a different chip.

There are others that have similar non-differences. On the 92/93 SC, in CA you can't downshift to 1st until you below 31 MPH vs federal's 35 MPH. Only difference.
