When I turn the key, I get NO response - does this mean a dead battery?

Check the posts on the battery. GM loves to use those awkward batteries with the posts on the side. Little bolt for positive. Another for negative.

Also check for blown fuses in the fuse panel.

Its your starter solenoid Adrift!. The fieros starting system is designed so that you can take all of your ignition system out and it still will turn over. if you get NO response i would say its your starter solenoid or starter it self. ...Wait actually check your ground on your starter also...reach back and bang on your starter with a hammer see if that may jog the solenoid.

I just fixed a similar problem...possible the starter switch on the steering column has moved out of position.

An easy fix...tilt the column down, remove the four bolts/studs that secure it to the car, let it rest on the seat on the steering wheel, and try pulling on the remote rod where it engages the starter switch. If pulling on the remote rod engages the starter, loosen the two bolts holding the switch to the column and slide the assembly back on the column and tighten the bolts.

Might take a few adjustments to get it where it works in all tilt positions, but it's an easy fix if that is your problem.
