After I complete my tie-rod-end job on my Coupe this weekend, I plan to have it aligned. Just for $hits and giggles, I stopped at Dan Tobin Pontiac and asked...they claimed it would be in the neighborhood of $175.
Sounds high to me! What do you guys/girls think?

'88s are actually easier to align! I would say thanks, but no thanks and find someone else to do it. I have not paid more than $75 for an alignment on any of my '88 Fieros over the past 11 years.....and that was on the high side.

look in the paper or free bargain types for a coupon at a major brand tire's store makesure it is good for 4 wheel ind job. 29.99 to 44.99 mostly they try to sell tyres to you, but you can't beat the deal.

I've had 3 seperate alignments done on my silver car, and then gave up. None of them were even close, all the shops around here are aparently staffed with idoits!
I now do the alignment in a friend's shop on his rig, I get to try different settings this way! (and the car is driveable, I don't end up on the side of the highway trying to get a piss poor alignment reasonably close so I can drive home 50miles. grr.)
Best! Ben.

yes I would say $75.00 is about on the high end for a 4 wheel alignment. but more importantantly you need to find a place that you can trust that will give you a good alignment. Some places will just take your money and do nothing unless the car is pulling to one side or the other .

see Scott at BeeLine Alignment on Harmon Ave. they did 4 wheel alignment for $75, ran straight ever since. I dont know what they charge, but ET Paul is best alignment and balancer in Columbus, might call them on Parsons Ave.
When I put poly on my Formula, I had it aligned. I took it to Jalk Walker Pontiac here in Dayton(they have always been helpful friendly and knowledgeable so I never gave it a second thought). I think it took just under 2 hours to align the car, and for a 4-wheel alignment, it cost me $55. The car tracked straight, handled awsome, the steering wheel was on center, and my tires haven't worn unevenly so they must have done a good job. If you were in the area, I would recommend them, but since you're not, check with other local Pontiac dealers(unless you want to drive it here). I don't feel safe leaving my Fieros with any shop other than a Pontiac(maybe Chevy) dealership. I worry about crushing coolant tubes, not having factory books/procedures, etc.
This is the same dealership that removed my McGuard wheel-locks in 20 minutes for $19.95. I was impressed, and happy to have those things off. They threw in the nylon caps for free .
I saw the thread and decided to price it out cause the camber on my ass end is way off. And it is 70 dollars to get it done, and that is at a place that specializes in alignments(choose them cause they sounded expensive, lol) And remember this is canadian money too!

Its a little pain to adjust front if caster or camber are out. most only set toe and forget it. To set caster/camber with OEM ball joints requires you to remove lower A arm and shim it, not too mention seized bolts. The slotted adjustable ball joints are in my list to do when I need them.

Its a different suspension from other Fieros, that dealer must think its exotic Borg technology or something! You can take it just about anywhere for an alignment. Place I took mine to last summer charged $49.95.
