Well, I got a code 24, the oxygen sensor is acting up now. Am Just wondering if that might be the cause of the problem I discribed earlier in this thread https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/013098.html

Does the O2 sensor have a role in how the engine idles? would a faulty sensor possibly cause the engine to kill when the clutch is pushed in?

The O2 sensor can cause a myriad of problems, including the idle. At this point you need to replace it anyways, so do that and see what happens.

The O2 sensor has an effect on the way the enge runs at all RPMs. I doubt it has anything to do with the clutch being pushed in.... You most likely found your problem though. Get a new one...it will only make things better.

If your O2 sensor fails you'll more likely see the idle speed rythmically bounce up and down 200-300 RPM every 1-2 seconds when the engine has warmed up. Be sure to replace the sensor with one of the good ones like a Delco, avoid the el cheapo ones.

What about the one made by BOSCH? AutoZone sells that kind. Is that considered el Cheapo?

Also, I found this interesting....
When I replaced my EGR Valve, I looked up the part number on the internet at autozones website. I live between 2 autozones. At one autozone the price was $59, and at the other id was $37.

24 is the speed sensor. 44 is O2 sensor. was that a typo?

Bosch is a good brand. They probably make the ones for GM.

Consider that Bosch is usually credited with inventing the O2 sensor.... I think they know what they are doing. Bosch is the only non OE brand I'll use for this sensor.

I bought the Bosch and put it in. Everything runs great now. I've spent about $160 changing sensors and the like, to find it was only a $20 part. Oh well, at least it has a lot of new sensors now...

TPS
IAC
MAP
EGR
and finally....
The O2 Sensor

I'm a little bugged at myself though, for most of those sensors I went to an Autozone that charges a hell of a lot more than another auto zone about the same distance just in the other direction. The O2 sensor was $32 at one of them, I got it for $19 and some odd cents. The EGR was $59 at the expensive AutoZone, I got it for $37 at the other one. At least now I know where to go for parts
