I remember on 4 occasions in the last 6 years I have heard about this tint that can be adjusted from 100% to 0% electronicaly.
From what I understand the tint is made of a photostatic material that reacts to electrical impulses and therefor changes shades.

Has anyone seen this or know where I can find it. I would like to see if it is possible to adapt it to a car. That way I can have really deep tint for when the car will be sitting in the sun for a while and then take it back down to the legal 35% (i think) here in TN.

theres been a lot of talk about it. Its been on several manufacturers show cars. I think its prob way to expensive for general use right now. Pretty sure thats how the self dimming electric mirrors work. Theres a small lite sensor in the face of the glass.

This is one of those nifty-neato things that Knight Rider made famous and cool, and here it is that this may actually be *possible* in a short while...

I *love* technology...

I've seen it in home automation systems for tinting and fogging house windows. I believe it uses a liquid crystal layer in the glass, just like the LCD on a calculator or watch. The cost is way out there, and LCD is not adaptable to a Fiero window. It needs to be done during manufacturing.

It's been patented by Research Frontiers of Woodbury, NY.

It will probably debut in auto sunroofs and airplane windows this fall or winter.

The product will also be available in residential windows beginning in 2002.

It's a film that contains microscopic particles that are aligned to block light to degrees depending on the amount of juice applied to the film.

I would guess it will be 2-3 years before aftermarket film will be available for consumer use.
